Ray is a retired Marine helicopter pilot, serving 30 years in the uniform. He has an extensive operational, and command & control background in the Indo Pacific region and has operated during numerous contingencies and humanitarian efforts around the Pacific Rim. A helicopter pilot by trade, Ray commanded a combat squadron at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, and at the Colonel level, he commanded HMX-1 and was responsible for the security and safety of flying the President of the United States on board Marine One. He has vast leadership experience at all levels, and an acute operational background. Ray has worked extensively with multiple local and state government agencies, law enforcement, and other government, private sector and non-profit organizations in Hawaii.
Ray served as the Assistant Superintendent of facilities for Hawaii Department of Education, and is the current President and Chair of The Education Institute of Hawaii. Ray is the author of “Inside Marine One” ; St Martins Press. Both of Ray’s children are Hawaii Public School attendees graduating from Kalaheo HS.
