Robert A. Walker is a tax attorney, university professor, published author, and inveterate traveler. He started traveling around the United States while still in high school and has visited all 50 states and all ten Canadian Provinces. To date, he has visited over 125 countries – but notes that with approximately 200 in the world – he has 75 more to see. For the first ten years of his professional career, he was a travel agent and tour operator and arranged meetings and conventions for the General Electric Company in New York City. After returning to and completing law school, for approximately the next ten years, he was a trial attorney with the Office of Chief Counsel (International and General Litigation Divisions) of the Internal Revenue Service at its headquarters in Washington, D.C. He is a member of the New York and Washington, D.C. Bar Associations and the United States Tax Court, Court of Federal Claims, and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Walker received his J.D. cum laude at Vermont Law School and his LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University Law School.
From 1996 to 1998, he was awarded a Fulbright International Teaching Fellowship to the KIMEP Presidential Institute in Almaty, Kazakhstan where he taught graduate MBA students. From 1998 to 2015, he has taught business law and accounting for the University of Maryland in its overseas divisions. In addition, he has led seminars for professionals and taught graduate and undergraduate students in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, South Africa, Japan, Korea, Germany, and Italy.
