Lyla Berg, Ph.D.
Dr. Lyla Berg is an author, professional speaker, resiliency coach, and entrepreneur. She is the owner and principal consultant with Lyla Berg and Associates, an international company which focuses on assisting organizations, and individuals, to successfully achieve their goals through creative leadership strategies, strong collaboration skills, clear communication, and the spirit of Aloha. Her various careers in education, elected government office, and non-profit organizations contribute to her familiarity with people and communities around the world.
Lyla was a member of the Hawaii State House of Representatives for several terms and served for over 15 years with the State of Hawaii Department of Education as a classroom teacher and middle school principal, as well as being an instructor in the University of Hawaii system. She is the Founder/former CEO of Kids Voting Hawaii, a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to the civic engagement of youth, K-12, statewide in all school settings and which is now renamed: WeVoteHawaii.
Lyla hosts a number of the weekly television programs in Hawai’i and is active on various boards of non-profit organizations at the local and national levels. She received her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. And earned her Master’s Degrees in Education from The American University and the University of Hawaii-Manoa, respectively. Her Ph.D. is from Union Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Lyla resides in Hawaii and enjoys traveling around the world to dance Argentine tango. Her most significant achievement and joy, however, is having raised her son Ka’ohu, now 28 yrs. old, as a single mother.
