José A. Fajardo, PRESIDENT & GENERAL MANAGER-Hawaii Public Radio

José A. Fajardo (pronounced “fuh-HAR-doe”) became Hawaiʻi Public Radio’s President and General Manager in June of 2016. Prior to his arrival in Hawaiʻi, he was based in Florida and held the post of Executive Vice President for the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce. Previous to his tenure with the Chamber of Commerce, he served as President & CEO for WMFE-TV/FM, the member-supported public broadcasting stations for Central Florida. Fajardo has enjoyed a 30-plus year career in broadcasting, starting in 1984 in Central Texas. He was born and raised in Puerto Rico.

Fajardo was an active Board member on several local, state, and national Boards, including serving as director on the National Public Radio (NPR) Board of Directors twice. Currently, Fajardo is a member of the Hawai‘i Art Alliance Board, and an active member of the Honolulu Rotary Club.

Jose A. Fajardo recently served as Executive Vice President for the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce. Prior to his role at the Orlando Chamber, he served as President & CEO for WMFE-TV/FM, the member-supported public broadcasting stations for Central Florida. Fajardo's broadcast career started in Central Texas, where he worked for three years in commercial radio before joining KNCT-TV/FM, the public broadcasting stations located in Killeen, Texas, concluding as its general manager.

Fajardo has been an active Board member on several local, state, and national Boards. He served as a director on the National Public Radio (NPR) Board of Directors twice and also served on the Board of the Association of Public Television Stations.

Fajardo is a native of Puerto Rico. He holds an MBA from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College.
