Fred graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in the 1960’s
with a degree in Forestry, and then went to the Fiji Islands as a Peace
Corps Volunteer, where he fell in love with the Pacific. After 4 years in Fiji,
Fred returned to Berkeley to do graduate work in Landscape Architecture
and Environmental Planning. Since then he has taught at California State
University at Chico, managed his family’s ranch, and worked for the U. S.
Forest Service. He finally ended up his career in the Forest Service as the
Pacific Islands Forester where he managed the federal forestry programs
for the U. S. affiliated Pacific, which was his dream job ever since working
in Fiji. Tonight he will talk on some of his experiences as the Pacific Islands
Forester.
