Guest Speaker and Waikiki Rotarian Mike Malaghan represents the stereotype intrepid traveler & history aficionado.  His 1966-69 Nigerian Peace Corps Service unleashed a passion to experience the world.  He has conducted business in 29 nations and visited 204 countries and territories. Mike splits his residency between Honolulu and Tokyo.

Born in Wisconsin in 1943, raised in Florida, Mike paid his way through the University of Florida by selling books door-to-door. He finished his corporate life years as president of a Walt Disney licensee … marketing English language learning materials in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and South Korea. McGraw Hill published his legacy business book “Making Millions in Direct Sales” in 2005.

Mike has published two of his trilogy novels on the Japanese heritage in Hawaii with emphasis the men who fought for us in WWII.

Mike and Tomoko joined Rotary two decades ago when after giving a talk on Hiroshima to Ala Moana Rotary, Dave Berry asked them, “Would you be interested in Rotary?”
