Guest Speaker: Arjun Aryal | Nepal Water Project
Arjun grew up in a remote village in Nepal as a goat herder. After my undergraduate degree in Nepal, I went to Cambridge University, UK, and Purdue University, Indiana for my graduate studies and later received PhD in Geophysics from UH Manoa.
He is currently a researcher at UHM and instructor of geology at UH-HCC. Right after the devastating 2015 earthquake in Nepal, he initiated a program to support earthquake-orphaned kids to continue their
education and now, there are over 100 earthquake-orphaned kids receiving help to continue their education.
He is also actively involved in several charities in Hawaii. Through Education International Foundation in Hawaii, he helped rebuild a school in Nepal that was completely destroyed by the 2015 earthquake.
He recently started a charity to promote sustainable environment and education. He is a member of
D5000 International Service team and international contact / host of "Chunder Drinking Water Project (GG1988399)" in Nepal. This project aims to develop drinking water supply in a rural village in Nepal.
In his presentation, he will explain why/how this project is about the survival of indigenous community.
