A message from our president Adrienne King.
IMUA!
Go forward with strength and strong spirit!
In our native Hawaiian culture, “Imua” is an expression of a deeply felt commitment towards an idea or a cause. The term IMUA was made famous by King Kamehemaha I, who would rally his warriors by calling out:
“IMUA! Forward my friends, forward— because there is no turning back!” To this day, the idea of imua still motivates and reminds us that we are stronger as one. It encourages a sense of pride in our values, traditions and culture— not just in our own lives and vocations, but in our entire Rotary community.
Let this be our Waikiki Rotary Club rallying cry this year.
Two years of mandates, masks, confusion and lockdowns have catapulted the world into the 21st century of zoom and facetime.
But we adapted. Our club met the challenges, applauded new ways to connect, and kept faith with those in the community who looked to us for help.
We increased membership, did many projects in the face of restrictions, and ended the year in an excellent financial position.
With renewed strength of purpose, upon the foundation laid by our past leadership and every member of Waikiki Rotary.
We acknowledge Punahou School for the photograph "Rhythm of the Strokes."
