Presidential vision for 2008-2009

(Tenure July 1, 2008 to June 31, 2009)

  1. Plan and achieve goals that continue the legacy of an Effective Rotary Club:
  • Sustain or increase club’s membership base
  • Implement successful projects that address the needs of the community and communities in other countries
  • Support the Rotary Foundation through both program participation & financial contributions
  • Develop leaders capable of serving in Rotary beyond the club level
  1. Direct and inspire a team of Board Members & Committee Members who:
  • Focus on the Waikiki community first
  • Exceed the minimum goals recommended on the District 5000 Governor citation and the Rotary International President citation
  • Develop members through social and leadership opportunities which exemplify the mission and objectives of Rotary International
  • Improve club operational infrastructures to insure long-term club sustainability
  1. Develop an Annual Calendar for meetings, activities, and event venues that:
  • Develop acquaintance as an opportunity for service
  • Emphasize high ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarians occupation as an opportunity to serve society
  • Apply the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
  • Advance international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world of fellowship of business & professional persons united in the ideal of service.

To achieve this vision, the expectations of Rotary Club of Waikiki Rotarians are:

  • Pay bi-annual club membership dues on time (July 1st and Jan 1st)
  • Sell or purchase a minimum of 2 tickets ($100/ea) for the Waikiki International FoodFest
  • Make a Gift to the Rotary Foundation by February 1st, 2009
  • Attend 50% or more of weekly Waikiki Club meetings and aim for 90% attendance including make-up meetings
  • Participate in service events and club social events per year
  • Actively serve in a leadership role on a current club standing committee
  • Identify and propose new members
